I love this photo!

When Julie reached out, I was immediately intrigued.Grandma’s handwritten letters paired with photos? How cool. What a powerful way to preserve her story — not just what she looked like, but who she was. Her voice, her humor, her personality — all captured in her own handwriting.

We started with a stack of letters she had written to her grandchildren over the years — full of advice, love, and funny little stories. Then we paired those letters with photos of Grandma throughout her life — snapshots that show her smile, her energy, her style, her vibe. In Julie’s words: “Wasn’t she just the best? Such a baddass :)” Yeah, she was pretty freaking awesome. And I hope for Julie reading those letters while looking at her photos, it felt being with her again.

That’s what I love most about these projects — they’re not just about organizing old photos or scanning handwritten notes. They’re about connection. Bringing generations together through something tangible, something that lasts.

If you’ve got a box of letters, cards, or family notes tucked away somewhere, this is your sign to bring them out. Let’s turn them into something beautiful — something that tells your family’s story in your own words and handwriting.
